Touch Rugby

We have been practicing planting, throwing, catching, tapping the ball and scoring tribes in touch rugby. It has been a lot of fun rain or shine! 

Athletics Day 2020

 Room 4 had a bunch of fun traveling around to all of the different Athletic Day stations. Our favourites were the "Gladiator Battle" and "Rob the Nest". We all wore our team colours and put on some face paint to cheer on our teams. It was a day with perfect weather, lots of families came to join the fun, and we ended the day tired and happy! :) 

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2020

 It was so much fun to go with our whole school to Sylvia Park for the film festival! We saw lots of great films from our school and others and when we got back we commented on the blogs of all the classes that submitted films! Great job Manaiakalani community for making this come together.

Identify Problems, Design Solutions

We have been learning to see problems around us such as lack of efficiency, safety, missed opportunity, or another type of need. Our engineers in Room 4 have been designing solutions to these problems in the form of an invention. They drew and labeled diagrams to plan their constructions, listed the materials they would use, and a comic about how it will work. We have started constructing our ideas and could use any extra recyclable materials you may have at home! 

Kapa Haka Performance

We had a very special performance today! Our Kapa Haka group got a chance to try out their costumes and show us what they have been working on this year!  We are so proud of them and very impressed with Ms. Pryde! You can watch the video below. :) We also had two very special guests at our assembly that donated money for us to have some nice warm fleeces for the upcoming year! :) 

Garden to Table Cooking

 Using the produce from our garden, we have been cooking a new dish each week and handing the meals out to our Senior Student Leaders. We learn kitchen safety, safe food handling, and cooking tips. The first week we made a 'garden pasta' and then we made a big salad. Next we will make Thai curry and then a Vietnamese dish! Different students help harvest, clean, prepare, and cook our meals each week and then pass them out. Of course we also get to try some of our hard work!
