Samoan Language Week in Room 4

We had lots of fun learning greetings, numbers, weather words, and days of the wee in Samoan! We expanded out Samoan vocabulary by creating a travel brochure for Samoa that included some of the different animals, weather, foods, and phrases to know before you go in both English and Samoan. We learned a dance with Mr. Suni, and he even brought in a lavalava for us to try on and learn how to tie! We ended the week by learning about the symbols and steps needed to make a samoan siapo. You can see our own designs based on nature below! Tofa soifua!

Helping Our School

We had a great week back at school after being away for lockdown. We read some nice stories, worked a lot on self-care and how to show empathy, and most importantly we got to spend time with each other and have some fun in the classroom again! Our class voted on ways to help out our school community and we chose to:

1. Help pick up any litter on the grounds.
2. Weed the school garden to get it read for planting.
3. Write nice welcome back notes for friends we missed in other classes.

There is another project we are working on as well but it will stay a secret until it is ready to show. ;)

After we finished picking up litter, cleaning up leaves, and weeding we got to harvest some of the garden veggies and fruit from the grounds. :)
