Kapa Haka Performance

We had a very special performance today! Our Kapa Haka group got a chance to try out their costumes and show us what they have been working on this year!  We are so proud of them and very impressed with Ms. Pryde! You can watch the video below. :) We also had two very special guests at our assembly that donated money for us to have some nice warm fleeces for the upcoming year! :)

Garden to Table Cooking

Using the produce from our garden, we have been cooking a new dish each week and handing the meals out to our Senior Student Leaders. We learn kitchen safety, safe food handling, and cooking tips. The first week we made a 'garden pasta' and then we made a big salad. Next we will make Thai curry and then a Vietnamese dish! Different students help harvest, clean, prepare, and cook our meals each week and then pass them out. Of course we also get to try some of our hard work!

Pink Shirt Day

In Room 4, we have been learning about and practicing mindfulness and self-care throughout the year. Not only does this help us connect with ourselves and our classmates, but with the events of this year our mental health is more important that ever. We were honoured to have Ms. Toyah Hoyes come in to speak to us about Pink Shirt Day. She is not only an important member of our community being on our school board, but a classroom parent as well. Pink Shirt Day is celebrated with different colours and at different times across the world, but what is the same is the importance of coming together, having authentic conversations about adversity, bullying, and how to we can spread kindness. Thank you Toyah for your contribution to our classroom community!

Greedy Cat Play

Our Junior School was able to attend a Greedy Cat live performance! We have read these kiwi classic books in class and had so much fun watching these characters come to life on stage! You can find out more about how to attend with your family at https://timbrayproductions.org.nz/greedy-cat/
